Youth Advocacy Initiative – Youth Empowering Student (Y.E.S.!)

Are you a special education teacher interested in providing transition options to your students?
Are you a student interested in teaching transition options to your peers?

Y.E.S. stands for Youth Empowering Students! The YES program is a transitioning guide that we offer to help students, parents and teachers within the I/DD community in the successful transitioning from high school to post-secondary education and employment after high school.

This program is specifically designed for youth in middle and high school and is free for those interested in providing this course in your class!

There is a large need to provide young adults with disabilities in the transition age years with the information necessary for planning for their futures.

We also provide training for youth to teach the programs to their peers. Typically each course is taught by 2-3 students, who are currently in or have recently graduated from middle or high school. These student trainers are provided with all the materials and information necessary to successfully provide the information to their peers.

We provide all you need to provide or teach this program to students who need the information most!

That’s not all! Just like typical middle and high school teachers get paid for their hard work, we also pay our trained students to be the YES teachers!
